LigaData Time Machine
LigaData Time Machine is focused on protecting enterprise data stored in a data lake or lakehouse. It backs data up several times per day in an open documented format, and provides for data tiering, archiving, and data protection. Backups are validated and it allows for point-in-time data recovery.
LigaData Time Machine supports three tiers of data:
• Hot: high-performance low-latency drives attached to data nodes, for example used to store the last 12 months of data.
• Warm: lower cost with higher-latency NAS/SAN storage, for example used to store data beyond the hot tier retention policy.
• Cold: lowest cost typically used to hold data for multiple years for regulatory compliance purposes.
Data Tiering
Data Archiving
Data is automatically compressed and archived to cold storage such as a SAN or NAS, alongside the metadata needed for recovery. Data retention policies per dataset allow for targeted and efficient backup and restore management.
Selected data sets may be protected through storing historical snapshot versions in Hot, Warm and Cold tiers, any of which may be restored as needed. This capability provides protection against events such as corrupted data tables or malicious data deletion or data lock.
Data Protection
Fault Tolerance and High Availability
LigaData Time Machine is an on-premises solution that provides data protection by using high storage density servers working as clusters using SAN, NAS or cloud as storage. The Azure, Google and AWS clouds are available as a destination for Disaster Recovery (DR). It runs on the cluster and provides the necessary storage services to handle fault tolerance and high availability needed for backup data. Backups are periodically validated against the current production system, confirming that all data is secured, and alerting the need to sync the backed-up data should any issues appear in the validation.
